Global HIV/AIDS Program was created in 2002 and it aims to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic across all social and economic sectors. It facilitates learning and knowledge sharing on addressing HIV/AIDS.


3. Is it possible to be infected with HIV through contact with animals such as dogs and cats?

No. HIV is a Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It only affects humans. There are some other types of immunodeficiency viruses, which specifically affect cats (SIV)

4. How well does HIV survive outside the body?

Scientists and medical authorities agree that HIV does not survive well outside the body, making the possibility of environmental transmission remote.
