Ways To Stop Burnout
Ask for help if the need arises. Don't be afraid to request for little more help or understanding. It will definitely not undermine your standing with anyone if you get a little help from those around you and it will help you go back to your normal self. Remember, everybody around you is not a sadistic person who is going to get pleasure out of your sufferings. Feel free to ask for help from people who you know will understand.
Try and spend quality time with people who lift your spirit. Think positively about yourself and others around. Stay in the company of happy people who know how to lighten up serious situations.
Nurture relationships. Research has proved that close friendships and marriage can boost one's positive energies. Sit in the park or be in the company of children who can be true stress busters. Make new friends.
Smile more often and smile for no reason. The rearrangement of your features will immediately calm you and put you in a pleasant frame of mind. This in itself will create a positive aura around you.
Fitness expert, Rashi Raj says, "Get enough exercise. The feel-good hormone serotonin is released when you work out, giving you a high after a session. It will help you to de-stress and feel good about yourself. Psychologist, Dr. Anjali Chabria says, "The first thing that I tell my patients who come with burnout problems is to start with an exercise regime even if it may be breathing exercises for thirty minutes."
Take a break from your work for may be just a few days. If you are working on the computer, look out of the window and admire the beauty of nature. When work gets too stressful and you are unable to handle it, go for a vacation. In a burnout, you cannot put in your hundred percent, hence it is better to take a short break. Pick up a hobby that makes you feel happy. It may even be painting with your children. Spend time with your family and do group activities like watching a movie or playing a game of cards and you will notice how your spirit soars up.
Write a journal and pen down the good events that happen in your life. At the same time, jot down the problems you are facing in your life and how you wish to solve them.
Try to organize your life, be it at home or at your work place. Write down what is to be done the next day on a piece of paper and stick it on the fridge. Understand and prioritize your work - ones that need to be finished first and others which can be handled later. Keep a target for yourself and see how you finish your work in a jiffy.
Maintaining good health is very important. Burnout leads to indigestion and fluctuation of blood pressure. Extreme stress can cause headaches, migraines, insomnia, and ulcer. Get regular health check-ups and take care of your health by eating a well balance diet. If you feel things are really going out of control and you just cannot handle it then visit a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Talking about your problems with someone like a psychologist who can understand will make you feel much lighter from within. Nobody can help you if you don't help yourself, so it is you and you alone who has to put in an effort to come out of this situation.
