Cellular Nutrition - Antioxidants for Health and Disease

Optimal levels are the levels that have shown to provide a health benefit in the medical literature. These are not the RDA levels.

Cellular nutrition is providing all nutrients to the cells at optimal levels. This then allows the cell to decide what it really does or does not need. This approach could correct nutritional deficiencies over a few months.

Below is a table that gives the optimal levels of all nutrients which according to Dr Strand if combined and taken in the form of a daily supplement, would offer the best protection against oxidative stress.

Research shows that 50 percent of people taking multivitamins are still nutritionally deficient. One has to take significant amounts of high quality antioxidants and minerals to prevent or slow down disease.

Lasting fatigue and chronic degenerative disease like heart disease, cardiomyopathy, cancer, multiple sclerosis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, reheumatoid arthritis lead to even more oxidative stress than normal. So prescription of antioxidants which are extremely potent is the most important.

Grape seed extract loaded with proanthacyanidins is one of the best available antioxidants. It also crosses the blood brain barrier easily.

Usually 100 to 200mg of the grape seed extract is prescribed for fatigued patients depending on the severity of the problem. The amount is increased to 300mg or more for chronic disease.

CoQ10 is also a highly potent antioxidant and is also important for creating energy within the cell. Approximately 100mg to 300mg of CoQ10 is beneficial in most of the degenerative conditions such as cancer and heart disease.

Glucosamine sulphate (1500 -2000mg) and chondroitin sulphate (400 - 600 mg) along with a potent antioxidant are effective in conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Magnesium, calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, zeaxanthine are some other optimizers often used.
