Acoustic Neuroma - Incidence / Prevalence
Incidence / Prevalence
Acoustic neuroma has a worldwide prevalence of 1 in 100,000 and makes up for approximately 5-10% of all intracranial neoplasms. Out of every 100 primary brain tumours, acoustic neuromas account for about eight. In the USA alone 3000 cases are diagnosed each year.
Vestibular Schwannoma occurs in both males and females with a slightly greater predisposition towards the latter. The frequency of occurrence is the highest in a middle aged person, particularly in those who are in their fifth and the sixth decade of life.
