Aicardi-Goutieres Syndrome - Glossary

Glossary

Autonomous chromosomes: Chromosomes contain DNA within an individual. The normal human genetic makeup is made up of 23 pairs of autosomes and 1 pair of sex chromosomes.

Recessive gene: A recessive gene is a defective copy that does not have any effect unless it is paired with another defective copy on the other chromosome.


Pyrexia: This is a medical term for fever.

Dystonia: This indicates muscle contractions that are involuntary and have an effect on the posture as well as cause slow movements.
