1. Which doctors treat AIDS cancers?

A physician experienced in treating AIDS patients normally deals with anti - HIV drug treatment. Beside this, AIDS cancer may also be treated by a surgeon or a specialist depending on the organ involved.

2. Are AIDS defining cancers seen only in AIDS patients?

Kaposi's sarcoma is usually seen in AIDS patients. The other AIDS defining cancers however may be seen in non-AIDS patients as well.


3. Do all AIDS patients die of cancer?

No. AIDS patients could die due to infections, liver disease and heart disease among other causes.

4. What is the difference between HIV and AIDS?

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. When a person is infected with the HIV virus, he is said to be HIV positive. The HIV virus continues to grow in the patient and finally reduces his immunity, making him susceptible to certain infections and cancers. This stage is called AIDS.
