Alcoholic Liver Disease Diagnosis
Diagnosis of Alcoholic Liver Disease
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) analysis - To detect anaemia or other blood-related abnormalities linked to liver malfunction.
- Liver Function Tests (LFT) - To evaluate liver function.
These two are the basic tests that are done to assess liver function and to detect liver abnormality if any.
- Liver Biopsy - If these tests show an abnormality, a liver biopsy is carried out wherein a tiny portion of the liver is removed for microscopic examinations and pathological studies.
- Other tests - To rule out other diseases, tests such as ultrasound and CT scan of the abdomen may also be carried out.
