Anal Warts - Genital Warts Causes Diagnosis Treatment - Prevention
Genital Warts
Warts that appear in the sex organs in males as well as females are termed as genital warts. They are caused by HPV virus and are transmitted sexually. They are similar to anal warts in appearance. They could cause obstruction to the flow of urine if they block the urethra. A complete genital examination is recommended to detect all the warts.Women with genital warts should undergo Pap smear to rule out cancer. Treatment is similar to that of anal warts. Genital warts tend to worsen in females during pregnancy. The patient may have to undergo cesarean delivery to avoid complications such as bleeding as well to prevent infecting the baby during delivery. A vaccine has been approved to prevent genital warts in both males and females. The patients should be advised to use condoms to prevent spread of infection.
