Glossary - Ataxia

Brainstem: It is a part of the brain in the lower portion of the skull that continues as the spinal cord. It controls breathing, circulation of blood and other important functions.

Cortex: It is the outer layer covering the largest part of the brain called the cerebrum.


Lyme disease: It is a disease spread by tick bite. It commonly causes rashes, joint swellings and fever.

Multiple Sclerosis: An autoimmune disease in which the covering of nerves i.e. myelin sheath is lost. It can severely disable the patient.

Thalamus: It is a relay centre for incoming and outgoing signals to and from the brain.
