Side effects or Adverse Effects of Birth Control Pills / Oral Contraceptive Pills
The Birth Control Pill is extremely safe and effective but some women experience the following side or adverse effects in the initial stage, which fades away eventually over a period of three months.- Nausea
- Weight gain
- Headaches, dizziness
- Tenderness of the breast
- Spotting may occur especially with pills containing progestin only
- Mood swings
- Blood clots within blood vessels (especially seen in women who are above 35 yrs of age and are in the habit of smoking)
- Dark Spotty pigmentation of the skin
