Chelation Therapy - Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which doctor should I consult for chelation therapy? You should visit the emergency care unit of a hospital if you suspect poisoning and may require chelation therapy.
2. Which drug is ideal for chelation?
An ideal chelation drug should be effective with minimal side effects. It should remove only the desired metal and should not remove essential nutrients from the body. Also, it should remove the metal from the desired site of the body. Thus, the chelating agent should be able to reach the body site where the toxic accumulation has occurred, form a stable complex with it which is non-toxic to the body and can be easily eliminated. Unfortunately, currently, there is no ideal drug for chelation therapy. However, newer research to find better drugs for chelation therapy is ongoing.
