Genetic Counseling - Conclusion
A through knowledge of the disease for giving information regarding the cause and risk figures of the disease is necessary before counseling. The prognosis and therapeutic measures ; if any ; should be mentioned.
Genetic counseling enables couples / affected individuals to make decisions about a future pregnancy. It helps the affected individual to educate and cope with the disorder with minimal clinical problems.
Genetic counseling is done in an objective manner, so that any treatment selected remains the personal choice of the individual involved. It includes patient support groups, services, regular follow up, group counseling and psychological support, together managing the genetic condition.
