Gilbert's syndrome can be diagnosed by a thorough history, physical examination and blood tests. It doesn't does not generally need treatment.

Gilbert's syndrome can be diagnosed by a thorough history, physical examination and blood tests. Blood tests are confirmatory and are also used to rule out other liver problems.

Treatment

Gilbert's syndrome doesn't generally need treatment. Fluctuations of bilirubin levels and occasional jaundice occur. The jaundice usually resolves on its own. Extremely elevated bilirubin levels may occur rarely. Drugs like phenobarbital are used in such circumstances.
