Glossary
Fungus: A large group of organisms that includes micro-organisms such as yeasts as well as bigger organisms such as mushroomsEmphysema: A condition characterized by enlargement of the air sacs of the lungs
Macrophage: A type of immune blood cell that can eat invading organisms
T-cell: A type of immune blood cell produced by the thymus gland that helps in fighting against invading organisms
Broncho-esophageal fistula: An abnormal connection between the airway passage and the food pipe
Retina: The innermost layer of the eye, which perceives light and converts it to electrical signals
Monoclonal Antibody: A type of therapeutic agent which is targeted against particular antigens
VEGF: Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor, a substance that stimulates growth of new blood vessels
Mycelium: Vegetative part of fungus, which consists of thread like filaments called hyphae
Yeast: Single celled fungus that reproduces by budding or fission
