Prevention of Hydatid Disease
Prevention
- Education on proper hygiene is a must for preventing Hydatid disease.
- Uncooked food must be properly washed and cleaned
- Stay away from wild cats and stray dogs.
Infected dogs must be treated.
- In areas endemic for echinococcosis periodical treatment of pet dogs with drugs like praziquantel will help.
- Always wash hands thoroughly after handling pets.
