Insomnia — Glossary
Sleep deprivation: a process by which the requirement for sleep is not meet.Sleep hygiene: the life style modifications adopted to achieve good sleep.
Circadian rhythm: a daily rhythmic activity cycle, based on 24-hour intervals, that is exhibited by many organisms.
Insomnia: a symptom indicating that a person has insufficient sleep
Excessive sleepiness: refers to daytime sleepiness where a person is expected to be alert.
Familial disease: a disease that is transmitted through genes, hence runs in families.
Sleep architecture: the rhythm of the sleep cycles with respect to NREM and REM stages of sleep.
