Kidney Stones in Children - What are the Symptoms of Urine Stone?

Medically Reviewed by The Medindia Medical Review Team on Dec 31, 2019

What are the symptoms of urine stone?

There can be no symptoms when a stone is present. When a stone is blocking the urine passage in the kidney or urinary tubes (ureter), severe pain results in the loin (upper side of the back) region. When the stone is in the urinary bladder, there will be pain at the lower part of belly or tip of the penis or vagina.

Pain when passing urine, blood in urine or even passing small stones or gravel in the urine, can be present. Small babies, unable to express themselves can only scream when they experience the symptoms. When children cry while passing urine or when there is urine infection, it is essential to rule out stone disease in the urinary tract of the child.
