1) Who prescribes orthoses?

There is a clinical team of professionals who work for this. This includes: Orthotist, Orthopedic Surgeon, Physician, and Physical therapist.

2) Who can benefit from orthotics?

There are no age restrictions. An infant with a club foot (CTEV in medical terminology), a 100 year old man with a paralysis: both may reap the benefit of orthotics. Let us not forget athletes! Frequent leg sprains, flat foot, gait abnormalities etc for example necessitate the use of lower limb orthoses.


3) Are orthoses common to all?

No. Most are custom made orthoses depending upon the patient's individual requirements.

4) How expensive are they?

The cost will depend upon the type of appliance used, the material it is made of, the duration for which the patient needs to wear it etc.
