What is a dry skin disorder?
- When skin is altered or damaged, it leads to dryness of skin.
- Dry skin is a common problem and may occur due to rough weather (dry winters), exposure of skin to water, soaps, gloves, and chemicals.
- The amount of the natural emulsion is influenced by age, cleansing, friction, humidity, temperature and other factors.
- Dry skin, particularly on the forearms, hands, and lower legs, tends to itch and flake (scale).
- Itching can be distracting and distressing.
- Chronic or severe dry skin problems may require a dermatologist's advice.
