Sleepwalking - Prognosis
Prognosis
Sleepwalking is progressive in the adults, while in children it is likely to disappear once they enter adolescence
Sleepwalking in childhood usually disappears during adolescence. But when it presents in older people it is usually progressive in nature.
If the onset is during childhood, the prognosis is excellent.
If the onset is in adulthood and no evidence of an underlying neurological or substance abuse problem ,the prognosis is poorer because the disorder tends to be chronic and follows a waxing and waning course. Good sleep hygiene measures should be practiced to reduce the occurrence of Sleepwalking disorder.
