a.Apnea: is a Greek word that means, "want of breath."b.Serotonin: (5-hydroxytryptamine, or 5-HT): is a monoamine neurotransmitter. It is believed to play an important role in the regulation of mood, sleep, emesis (vomiting), sexuality and appetite.
c.Prenatal: relating to the period before birth.
d.Postnatal: relating to the time after birth.
e.Arousal Response: is an awakening from sleep to facilitate breathing.
