Glossary

Artery: Blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to different parts of the body

ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate): It is a blood test that indicates presence of inflammation in the body


Inflammation: Tissue reaction characterized by pain, heat, redness and swelling

Lumen: The inner cavity (in this case of the blood vessel)

Vasculitis: Inflammation of blood vessels

Ventricles: The lower chambers of the heart. The heart has two ventricles - the right and the left ventricles
