Glossary
Hepatitis: An infection or inflammation of the liver.Hepatitis B: A type of hepatitis that is carried and passed to others through the blood or sexual contact.
Hepatitis C: A form of hepatitis caused by the hepatitis C virus, which is transmitted through sexual contact or contact with infected blood or body fluids.
Hepatitis D: A form of hepatitis that only causes symptoms when the individual is already infected with hepatitis B.
Viral infection: An infection involving viruses, the smallest known disease causing organism.
Fever: Raised body temperature usually with other symptoms.
Jaundice: Symptom of liver damage, bile obstruction or excessive red-blood-cell destruction. Jaundice is characterized by yellowing of the whites of the eyes, yellow skin, dark urine and light stool.
Antigen: Any substance able to provoke an immune response in the human body.
Antibody: Antibody is a protein complex used by immune system to identify and neutralize foreign objects like bacteria and viruses. Each antibody recognizes a specific antigen unique to its target.
