Thyroid cancer is hard to prevent, it may occur even in the absence of any of the risk factors. New genetic blood tests are available to find out the 'high risk' individuals, as we have seen earlier.Medullary Thyroid Cancer runs in families. General measures like maintenance of proper weight, having a healthy diet rich with vegetables and fruits. These contain antioxidants that protect cells.
The content of animal fat may be lowered. Lay more emphasis on unsaturated fats (omega 3 fatty acids) which are abundant in fish. The American Cancer Society recommends eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day.
