2. How long does it take to do the Urodynamic test?

A full Urodynamic test takes about 45 mins. However Uroflowmetry will take 4 to 5 minutes.

3. Are there any specific instructions I should follow?

There is no special preparation required for any of these tests and your doctor will advise you if you need to make any changes with regard to fluid intake or medications prior to going in for the tests. Some instructions will also depend on the specific test you are going for as you may need to go in for some tests on a full bladder.


4. Is urodynamic testing painful?

You could experience some amount of discomfort after undergoing the tests when urinating. This usually lasts for a few hours and can be relieved to some extent by drinking adequate amounts of water frequently. Warm baths or applying a warm compress to the region will also help to provide relief.

5. Are there any risks involved?

The risks are minimal and are only present when invasive procedures are used, such as through the insertion of a catheter. If your doctor believes there is a risk of infection he will prescribe a course of antibiotics, but in most cases doctors will not prescribe any antibiotics as the risk is marginal. In the event that you do experience any symptoms of infection like fever, chills, cloudy urine, bloody urine, kidney pain, backaches or general pain in the region, make it a point to contact your doctor immediately.

6. How long does it take to get urodynamic testing results?

Results from tests are usually provided immediately and in some cases you may simply have to wait for a day or two as your doctor or other health care providers will need to interpret the test results for you.
