2. What is Dilation and curettage?

It consists of two parts - first the opening of the cervix is dilated using a metal dilator and this is followed by curettage. During curettage a metal device called curette is used to gently scrape out the inner lining of the uterus and a sample of the uterine lining is taken for histopathology diagnosis so that the right treatment can be administered.

3. Does abnormal vaginal bleeding indicate cancer?

There are many possible causes for vaginal bleeding and a small percentage of the sufferers could have cancer. It is important to consult a doctor at the earliest.
