2. Is the stapedectomy very painful?

It is not a very painful operation but painkillers will be needed for a few days after surgery.


3. Does the prosthesis last for life?

The prosthesis is meant to be permanent but sometimes it may be damaged during the healing process and revision surgery may be necessary.

4. How long will it take for maximal hearing to be seen?

It may take up to six months for maximum hearing improvement.
