This medication is a monoclonal antibody, prescribed for active, autoantibody-positive, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who are receiving standard therapy. It blocks the activity of a certain protein in people with SLE. It may not work as well to treat African Americans who have SLE.When should Belimumab not be taken? (Contraindications)
