Why is Cinacalcet Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is a calcimimetic agent, prescribed for secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease and for hypocalcaemia in patients with parathyroid cancer. It helps in parathyroid hormone secretion in order to decrease the amount of calcium in the blood.

When should Cinacalcet not be taken? (Contraindications)

Hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Cinacalcet?

Dose is based on patient’s condition and response to the medication. The recommended initial oral dose is 30 mg once daily.

How should Cinacalcet be taken?

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.
