Why is Ethotoin Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is an anticonvulsant, prescribed for seizures either alone or with other medications. It controls the abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

When should Ethotoin not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment, and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Ethotoin?

Adult- PO- The recommended initial dose is 1gm in 4 to 6 divided doses daily. Maintenance: 2 to 3gm.
Child- PO- The recommended initial dose is 750 mg daily.

How should Ethotoin be taken?

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.
