Why is Glipizide and Metformin Prescribed? (Indications)

This combination medication contains sulfonylurea and biguanide antidiabetic, prescribed for type 2 diabetes. It is not for treating type 1 diabetes.

When should Glipizide and Metformin not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma, stroke, kidney or liver impairment, and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Glipizide and Metformin?

Dose is based on patient’s condition.
Adult: PO- Per tab contains glipizide 2.5 mg and metformin 250 mg. The recommended initial dose is 1 tablet once daily.
