Why is Methamphetamine Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is a central nervous system stimulant, prescribed for attention deficit disorders with hyperactivity in children. It is also used to treat obesity along with other medications. It works by affecting the chemicals in the brain and nerves.

When should Methamphetamine not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated during or within 14 days following the administration of monoamine oxidase inhibitors; contraindicated in patients with severe high blood pressure, loss of appetite, overactive thyroid, and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Methamphetamine?

Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity: The recommended initial dose is 5 mg once or twice a day. It may be increased if needed.
For Obesity: One 5 mg tablet should be taken one-half hour before each meal.
