Why is Mycophenolic Acid Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is an immunosuppressant agent. It is used to prevent organ rejection in patients receiving allogeneic kidney transplants.

When should Mycophenolic Acid not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity, pregnancy and lactation.

What is the dosage of Mycophenolic Acid?

Adult: Initial dose: 720 mg orally twice a day on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food intake.
Geriatrics: 720 mg twice a day on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food intake.
Pediatric: 400 mg/m2 twice a day (up to a maximum of 720 mg twice a day). Pediatric doses for patients with BSA <1.19 m2 cannot be accurately administered using currently available formulations of Myfortic tablets.
