Why is Tenofovir Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is a class of antiretroviral agent, prescribed for HIV infection in combination with other medicines, and chronic hepatitis B in adults. It works by blocking the growth of HIV.

When should Tenofovir not be taken? (Contraindications)

Hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Tenofovir?

Adult- The dose is one 300 mg tablet once daily taken orally, without regard to food.

How should Tenofovir be taken?

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

What are the warnings and precautions for Tenofovir?

• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver problems, including HBV infection, bone problems or kidney problems, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
