This medication is a chelating agent, prescribed for Wilson disease. A chelating agent has the ability to remove heavy metals like copper, lead from the blood. Hence this medication blocks copper absorption into the body.When should Trientine not be taken? (Contraindications)

Adults: The recommended dose is 1.2 to 2.4 gm daily in 2 to 4 divided doses, before meals.Child: The dose is based on body weight.
