This medication is an antioxidant, prescribed for Vitamin E deficiency, cystic fibrosis. It is a dietary supplement.When should Vitamin E ( alpha Tocopherol ) not be taken? (Contraindications)
Hypersensitivity.What is the dosage of Vitamin E ( alpha Tocopherol )?
Adult: PO- Vitamin E deficiency- 40-50 mg/day of d-α tocopherol.Supplementation in cystic fibrosis- 100-200 mg/day of dl-α-tocoferil acetate or 67-135 mg/day of d-α-tocopherol.
Abetalipoproteinaemia- 50-100 mg/kg/day of dl-α-tocoferil acetate or about 33-67 mg/kg/day of d-α-tocopherol.
Dietary supplement:
Infants- 0 to 6 months: 4 mg/day
7 to 12 months: 5 mg/day
Children- 1 to 3 years: 6 mg/day
4 to 8 years: 7 mg/day
9 to 13 years: 11 mg/day
Adolescents and Adults- 14 and older: 15 mg/day
