High Fiber foods: High fiber foods may interact with Liothyronine and result in decreased absorption. It is better to avoid taking high fiber foods while taking thyroid hormones.

Soy products : Soy products like soya milk, soya beans may interact with Liothyronine and result in poor absorption. Avoid taking any soy products within 3 hours of taking this medication.

Walnuts: The drug absorption is reduced while taking walnuts with Liothyronine ().

Kelp (Brown sea algae): Avoid taking Kelp with thyroid hormones, it may result in increased risk of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.

Bugleweed : Concurrent use of Bugleweed and Thyroid hormones may result in reduced effectiveness of thyroid hormones ().

Liothyronine Interactions with Caffeine

Caffeine in coffee, tea with Liothyronine may result in decreased efficacy and safety of the drug by lowering its absorption ().

When and How to Take Liothyronine

Liothyronine is available in the form of tablet to be taken orally.
It should be taken once in the morning on empty stomach with a glass full of water at least 30-60 minutes before food.
Do not take more or less than the prescribed dose. Because the dosage is based on your age, thyroid levels, medical condition and response to the treatment.
Do not take double dose to makeup for missed dose.
