When and How to Take Meperidine
- Meperidine is available in the form of a tablet and a syrup (liquid) to be taken by orally.
- It is usually taken with or without food every 3 to 4 hours as needed for pain.
- Swallow the tablets as a whole instead of crushing, chewing or breaking them.
- Follow the directions exactly as given on the prescription label.
- During treatment, your doctor may adjust the dose of Meperidine based on how well the pain is controlled and the side effects you experience.
