How to Take Hydroxyurea and it's Dose


It comes as a capsule and tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

Intermittent Therapy
80 mg/kg administered orally as a single dose every third day.
Continuous Therapy
20 to 30 mg/kg administered orally as a single dose daily.
Concomitant Therapy with Irradiation
Carcinoma of the head and neck—80 mg/kg administered orally as a single dose every third day.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with severe bone marrow depression, abnormal decrease in blood cell counts and hypersensitivity.

Drug Name : Hydroxyurea

This medication is an antineoplastic agent, prescribed for sickle cell anemia, several types of cancer (such as melanoma, chronic myelogenous leukemia, squamous cell carcinomas), as an adjunct to antiretroviral therapy for AIDS.
