Side effect(s) of Edaravone


Review the side-effects of Edaravone as documented in medical literature. The term "side effects" refers to unintended effects that can occur as a result of taking the medication.   General:
Gait disturbances, headache, presence of sugar in the urine (glycosuria)

  Allergic reactions:
Severe allergic reactions including anaphylactic reactions can occur. The sulphite content can also cause an allergic reaction, especially in patients with asthma. Allergic reactions may consist of skin rashes, wheezing, difficulty with breathing, swelling around the throat and a severe fall in blood pressure (shock)

  Skin:
Skin rashes, eczema, fungal (tinea) infection, bruising

Women are advised to inform the doctor if they are pregnant or breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy before starting the medication.

Drug Name : Edaravone

Edaravone generic Edaravone is prescribed for treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a motor neuron disease or Lou Gehrig’s disease that causes the death of the nerve cells responsible for voluntary muscle contraction. This causes the muscles to become weak and leads to paralysis. The exact mechanism of action of edaravone is not known. It probably works as an antioxidant, that is, it slows down the rate of nerve damage by reducing the oxidative stress.
