Distance Education - FAQ
How This course is relevant for me?
The course is designed for the practicing Physician. It is designed and written by academic faculty who themselves are practitioners-therefore combining the best of both worlds. As an added safeguard, frontline medical practitioners check each course mailer for relevance to family practice.
My Practice has some unique requirements :
The course has a care and a non-care area of content. While the core area concentrates on must known areas for all physicians, you can tailor the non-care area to suit your needs. For instance, if you are practicing in an industrial area, you may want to choose some elements in industrial medicine as non-core area of concentration. This built in flexibility, we believe is one of the key strengths of the course.
What is duration of the course?
Two years. You may choose to extend the completion of your course to suit your practice and time constraints
What P.G. Diploma?
After the completion of requirements the candidate is admitted as a “fellow of the college of family health.” The candidate may then take an examination and pass after which a diploma in Family Health is awarded by the Deemed University. This diploma does not come under the purview of the Medical Council of India.
So what does this Course teach me?
The course is built on the concept of the problem-oriented learning- a tested and effective means of continuing medical learning. Practitioners who are sitting members of our board of studies have identified real life practice problems.
The content is tailored to meet the needs of the community and therefore what you learn is what you can directly apply to practice. This Course is aimed to extend the scope of practice to wider range of family health.
