5. Pemphigus Vulgaris
Fatal, severe blistering disease of autoimmune etiology may present as medical emergency in casualty, due to septicemia or shock in the form of organ failure, metabolic and electrolyte abnormalities. The patient has to be managed in ICU set up with high dose steroids and appropriate antibiotics with special attention to fluids, electrolyte balance organ failure.
The condition warrants immediate hospitalization, comfortable environment, correction of hematologic, biochemical and metabolic dearrangements. Systemic steroids form the main stay of treatment in overcoming the intensive phase of the disease. The associated systemic complications must be tackled appropriately.

Exfoliative dermatitis includes also Seborrhea for which a steroid i.e. Betamethasone Valerate 0.2% is prescribed. However a good scrubbing with bath salts, like skin-friendly Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulphate) after a shower, will have the same temporary effect, without the nasty side-effects of Steroids. On the scalp Alcohol will prevent excessive dandruff for a day or so.
Why this difference between type 1 and type 2 reactions and why there is difference even in treatment also .
