There are usually two breaks provided during the 8 hours examination session,the first break lasting for 30 minutes, followed by 15 minute long break students are allowed to use the last
room and have a light meal.
For the Clinical skill examination (STEP 2:CS),the students would have to go through a series of patient encounters and are expected to make an note of each patient in a computer situated outside each of the examination
rooms.
Examinee instructions will be posted on each of the examination room doors.
On entering the examination room, the candidate can begin with history taking and physical examination.
Candidates are expected
to communicate with the standardized patients, as if it were a real patient, the candidates are also required to discuss the diagnosis they are considering with the patient.
For those candidates who are unsuccessful at the first attempt of STEP 2 CS, a repeat examination is required. It is possible for candidates to encounter similar cases that they had in their previous examination, however it is always best to approach each encounter as a new case as not always will case unfold exactly the same way.
