GURGAON, India, April 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Healthcare imaging specialist Barco took part in the 'Comprehensive Review of Breast Imaging' workshop at Medanta hospital in Gurgaon, India. From 22 to 23 April, around 150 doctors hone their breast imaging skills using Barco equipment and displays, including the all-in-one Coronis Uniti system.
The workshop, a joint initiative of Medanta - The Medicity and the Breast Imaging Society of India, provided training in all aspects of breast imaging and interventional techniques. Several didactic lectures, case discussions, a mammography reading session, breast MRI interpretations and hands-on training sessions were scheduled.
This valuable conference on 'Comprehensive Review of Breast Imaging' is organized by Dr. Jyoti Arora, Senior Radiologist and Breast Imaging Specialist at Medanta. She is also the founder member and Joint Secretary of BISI, Breast Imaging Society of India.
Introducing Uniti in India
For these sessions, Barco provided its Coronis 5MP 21" diagnostic and Eonis 24" clinical displays. Also featured was Barco's Coronis Uniti display, which was presented for the first time in India. Uniti is the only display explicitly designed for both PACS and breast imaging with special indication for breast mammography tomosynthesis thus eliminating the need for a multi-head display set-up. Its 12 Megapixel screen is sharp and precise, and its ergonomic design optimizes the reading experience.
To ensure that the workshop runs smoothly, Barco also lent its single-chip PFWX-51B projector and its wireless ClickShare presentation system.
Feedback from the field
"We're honored to be able to support Medanta - one of India's largest multi-specialty institutes - by helping to provide the necessary equipment for the 'Comprehensive Review of Breast Imaging' workshop," says Vivekanand, Country Director Barco. "We're convinced that events like these are crucial to improve early detection and enable better and faster diagnosis. For Barco, it is also an excellent opportunity to gather feedback on our display technology and see how we can continue to improve our solutions, going forward."
Dr. Jyoti Arora, Senior Radiologist, Medanta Hospital, says, "Coronis Uniti hopefully will bridge the gap between grayscale and color applications as it is specially designed for both. Mammography reading and cross-sectional reporting on PACS can now be done on the same monitors thus reducing the need for shifting from one set of workstation to the other, easing out stressful reading environment for the radiologist and increasing the throughput."
