DETROIT, Dec. 17 -- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan announced today that Kevin Klobucar, a 23-year employee of Blue Care Network and BCN's current vice president for products and marketing, will succeed Jeanne Carlson as leader of the state's largest health maintenance organization when Carlson retires at the end of February 2010.
The appointment was announced today by Daniel J. Loepp, president and CEO of BCBSM, parent company of Blue Care Network. The appointment is pending formal approval from the BCBSM and BCN boards of directors.
"Kevin Klobucar is a seasoned executive and a well-respected leader within the Blues enterprise," Loepp said. "BCN has a strong tradition of exceptional leadership. I'm fully confident that Kevin will continue this legacy and advance BCN's status as the most innovative HMO in Michigan."
Klobucar's experience with BCN has included business development, health center management, product development, marketing and strategic planning. He was closely involved in the development and marketing of Healthy Blue Living, Michigan's first HMO product to lower insurance costs for members who commit to wellness.
"Kevin will be charged with assuring that BCN continues to provide innovative products in the HMO market that give customer groups and individual members affordable coverage focused on wellness," Loepp said.
Klobucar will report to Jeff Connolly, President for West Michigan operations for BCBSM.
