RAMSEY, N.J., Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- When the ODT Forum is held in Memphis on April 26-27, a new conference agenda will help to shape industry innovation, standards and methods. The ODT Forum is the only conference of its kind-a true "forum" where orthopedic device manufacturers can discuss the critical issues they face and work toward overall industry improvement. This year's event will be held at the FedEx Institute of Technology and will continue to focus on "Technical & Operations Excellence in Orthopedics."

The agenda for the ODT Forum has been developed by a new Advisory Board consisting of industry executives with diverse areas of specialty. The Board has identified key issues for orthopedic device companies and their suppliers, purchasing agents, R&D teams and operations managers. The one-day conference session will include panel discussions, co-presentations and case studies on topics ranging from innovation, global supply chain trends, and establishing industry-wide protocols in the OEM/supplier relationship.  Renowned orthopedic surgeons will lead two talks. William M. Mihalko, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, InMotion Memphis and orthopedic surgeon at the Campbell Clinic will address innovations in computer-assisted surgery.  Networking opportunities will be available throughout the day, providing a unique collaboration among attendees who represent the diversity of industry functions.

Jeff Kaser, Vice President of Worldwide Quality Operations for Johnson & Johnson's DePuy orthopedic unit and an ODT Forum industry protocol panel member, sees a significant need for an event like this. "I am truly looking forward to participating in the ODT Forum in April," said Kaser. "The topics we will cover are important to orthopedic industry growth, enhancing customer satisfaction and improving supplier/OEM relationships. This is a great opportunity for collaboration among industry professionals."

The conference will be held on Wednesday, April 27, with a full schedule of presentations, directed discussions, networking breaks and a networking luncheon. On Tuesday, April 26, attendees will have the unique opportunity to tour the FedEx hub facility for an up-close look at how the company's innovative logistics serve the complex demands of the medical device industry.

ODT Forum is sponsored by A.T. Wall Company, Boston Centerless, EPTAM Plastics, FMI Medical, Knight Mechanical Testing, Onyx Medical Corp., Orchid Orthopedic Solutions, Seabrook International, Tecomet, Tegra Medical, Vaupell and Y&W Technologies.

Since 2006, Orthopedic Design & Technology magazine has hosted the industry's two premiere OEM/supplier conferences. The ODT Forum is now in its third year, and the magazine will hold its ODT Forum Supplier Expo in Fort Wayne, Ind. in September. Both cities are epicenters of orthopedic manufacturing in the United States.
