Keeping that in mind, The Pet Stars.com has been launched, which is a one-stop shop for anything and everything you need for the well-being of your pets. The portal provides Indian pet parents with a variety of professional pet services through a trusted, reliable and committed partner channel network. With over 10+ pet care categories (Groomers/Vets/Trainers/Breeders/Kennels/Pet Stores/Food and Accessories/Transportation/Pet Parties/Rescue & Rehab) and with over 400 verified and the best in business channel partners, the vision is to redefine the way we care of our pets and give them the right attention, love and pamper them enough so that it brings out the lovely best in your lovely pets. What we bring to our customers is a complete ecosystem of pet care services so that they can plan for the well-being of their pets in a simple yet an efficient manner.
Started in September 2015, from Bangalore, we will soon be starting operations in other cities. However, this has not stopped our channel partners from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata to post their listings on our website and we already have a small presence in these big cities.
By creating a common platform (http://www.thepetstars.com), which hosts our channel partners (vendors) as well as pet parents, we are bringing in the element of competitiveness in services as well as pricing. In a way, we are also eliminating the inconsistency in what is being offered and what will be offered by the channel partners through the review and rating mechanism. In this way, we are eliminating the current monopoly, which is very evident in this space and laying the path of creating yet another competitive world class services industry.
How it works is that the channel partners post information about their services, which they have to offer, along with their brief write up, accolades, certification (if any) along with pictures of their setup, so that customers can read about the services and check the pictures to experience a virtual view of the services. For example - Under the Vets category, you would find details about the vets contact and address, education, total years of experience, registration number, pictures of the clinic and so on. Capturing and providing this information to the customers is extremely important because pets are like our children and we would not like to take our children to doctors who are not qualified or who are not experienced. In the next phase of our development release, we would be launching the Online Appointment Booking system, wherein our clients would be able to select the vet based on his/her background, check the availability and book an appointment with the vet in a couple of clicks. With this feature there will be no more waiting at the clinics. In case you wish that someone could pick your pet from your doorstep and drop your pet back after the vets' appointment, we could get arrange that as well.
There are plans of having an e-commerce portal so that you could shop for supplies, accessories, medicines and have them delivered at your doorstep without having to leave the comfort of your home. We would also be starting off with our own in-house training programs wherein pet parents could either attend classes or sign up for virtual based training on the well-being of their pets.
The actual trigger for Nauman Shakib, the founder of The Pet Stars, to start off this came when he was pet-sitting his friends persian cat and found out that the feline needed immediate tick and flee treatment and the harrowing experience he went through to find out vets and groomers to attend to the feline was when he decided that there is immense value in starting a complete pet care portal for the well being of our furry friends.
"I remember walking upto Javeria, my better half, and telling her about my plan. Initially, she was a little reluctant but when I explained to her the bigger picture, she was convinced and we started The Pet Stars. She is also the co-founder plus a full time mom and is actively working to build the company. The early months of 2015 are when we met a lot of pet lovers and pitched our idea of a complete pet care portal and everyone was receptive to our idea. But when we started meeting vendors we were surprised to know how ignorant they were to the power of technology and how the use of technology would help them grow their business. We were shooed away and asked to leave from many places, however, we were not ready to give up. It was difficult but when we were able to show them the bright side and the advantages of using our digital platform they seemed convinced but still it's a long road ahead," said Nauman Shakib, founder of the The Pet Stars.
