Blood Test To Detect Treatment Resistance in Prostate Cancer

For the treatment of prostate cancer, two drugs, abiraterone and enzalutamide are used. They are used to block growth where it starts - either by targeting tumor cell receptors to prevent testosterone from binding, or they entirely block the body''s overall production of testosterone. But tumor cells can change in such a way that renders them resistant to these medications and makes it difficult to find out if the treatment is effective or not.
