Prospective Drug for Parkinson's Disease

A steroid made by the dogfish shark was synthesized artificially, by a multi-University research team including Cambridge University, and which was found to prevent the buildup of a protein associated with neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's. The lethal protein called alpha-synuclein (α-synuclein) could be a potential target of drug therapy for such neurodegenerative diseases.
