Stress Can Shrink Brain Size and Affect Memory in Middle Age

Middle-aged people with high levels of cortisol, a hormone linked to stress in their blood have impaired memory and cognitive decline when compared to those with average levels of the hormone. Higher levels of cortisol are also linked to a slight shrinking of the brain.
